When things go bad...

It is weird. Sometimes we are doing good and we are having the life we are dreaming of. We have a good job, great opportunities, great people around us. However, all this looks different from within. Not everything is perfect in life. Things go wrong. And suddenly your life does not seem so smooth any more as it was before shit happened.


Especially in the society we live in, where social media gives the glamorous shine that everyone out there is living an excellent life. You see your friend finishing his master's degree, your auntie chilling at the beach or some strangers partying in a nightclub. It just gives you the feeling of what am I doing with my life. That high pressure from our society is just overwhelming and can make us feel unconscious.





So what can we do about it?


  1. Recall social media is just a filter on everyone's life, where people decide what they want to show. Most of the time, this barely reflects reality. It is the highly compressed summary of other's life. What you do not see is the hard work, sad stories and other burdens that everyone encounters in their life.

  2. Get rid of social media. Just turn it off. You do not need the confirmation from others to be the one who you want to be. Just be it. Why are you waiting for others to give you a nice compliment or to give you attention? Focus on the things that YOU truly want to achieve and that are important to you

  3. Even if things are going bad, there are always some parts in your life that go well. Focus on these and you will be better off. It is normal to struggle at some areas in life. But if we get demotivated by life's struggle too much, we sometimes might lose track. Instead, we can focus on positive aspects of our life to gain momentum and use this momentum to overcome obstacles in parts of our life where we are struggling.

  4. Last but not least: Don't forget to take breaks. Try to focus on your inner peace and practice a certain form of stillness. It will show true wonders. If you start to listen to yourself, you can develop unknown strength, that can bring you far and change your opinion towards life situations totally.
